1/17/06 "SECRETARY OF THE NAVY" letter received this date
by President Ben Lines acknowledging the requests for another ship
to be named USS CASA GRANDE. He intends to publish the letter.
Until then, it states the recognition of the ship's achievements
during its years of activity. Also, that there are many people who
have requested names for new ships. It does not put aside our
efforts.

NEW ALL OUT EFFORTS by the Association members and all
others who sent petitions to him and representatives in government
requesting a new ship to be named USS CASA GRANDE, is now
underway and is the main focust of this year's agenda and reunion.

2006 Reunion location evaluated by the Committee and Officers.
Since the Secretary of the Navy and other officials are now aware
of our efforts, this is the opportune time to devote all our energy
and resources in a united front to make this a possibility. With
this being our priority, it has been has been agreed upon to
POSTPONE the Branson location to a future date. The new
location will be Baltimore, Maryland; with events taking place
throughout the area such as the Naval Base, Arlington Cemetery,
visit to the White House, ( possibly meeting with officials), an
ocean cruise and more. Embarked on this venture, we hope all
will enjoy another great get together.

UP-TO-DATE information will be posted in this "news" and
"bulletin" board page plus will be in our "NEWS LETTER."
President Lines will also inform you of the latest in his special
personal letters to all.

THE USS CASA GRANDE LSD-13 REUNION ASSOCIATION
though not registered yet as such, is a NON-PROFIT organization
having a roster of over 400. From this there are approximately
200 who are active. We depend solely on donations and dues to
keep us viable. We are greatful for those who do remember this
and are hopefull others will.

This "NEWS PAGE"now gives us the opportunity to bring
all information about our events in a more timely manner.
This is in addition to the recently created "BULLETIN" board
page that all members may use following the directions.

Changes are also underway to revamp the
ASSOCIATION page posted in the NAVIGATE
listings. This page will now include the present
elected Officers for the year; those serving on
the "Board of Directors/Consultatants" and
Reunion Committee Members.

These new pages will be maintained by your assistant
web designer Phil Forrest who has worked closely with his
grandson in creating this site for the Association.

Jerry Lauinger, Editor of the Casa Grande News letter,
his Assistant Pat McCormick and your President will also
use this page to enhance the distribution of information.
Their e-mail addresses will be found in the "new" Officer
page listed in the Navigation column under ASSOCIATION.

AOL's methods of posting these pages may be
different than originated. It also takes them
anywhere from 3 to 4 days or longer after it is
sent out to have it appear for viewing. This has
been an ongoing situation. Reporting this to them
has had no response or impact on the situation.

12/31/05 THE 2005 CASA GRANDE REUNION "PICTURES"
that have been put on DVD DISCS are now available.
The city of Casa Grande, Arizona, really went all out in
welcoming and recognizing our ship, crew and Association.
This great day in our history and all pictures, (over 400) of
events that took place can be yours for only $10.00 each.
The Association is NOT making any money on these as we wanted
as many as possible to have the beautiful colored pictures
of an outstanding reunion that never will always be remembered.

DVD DISCS are obtained by sending the $10.00 cost via check or
money order made out to the USS CASA GRANDE REUNION ASSOCIATION

Advanced orders placed at the reunion that were paid for are being sent
out now. Those who did not prepay and wanted one will receive theirs by
sending the cost to BEN LINES, who upon receiving it will immediately
mail them out to you. This picture DVD DISC is available to anyone. They are
not limited to Association members. Ever wonder how active we are or
what are reunions are like? This is an excellent way to find out. "MAKE SURE
YOUR RETURN ADDRESS IS CORRECT" and readable.
